The Scent Was Mine Alone – Chapter 2

“I don’t think she’s going to interact with me anytime soon now” said Ethan to Luke. Luke sighed and with a tender yet no nonsense tone asked “she’s working here, she’ll have to interact with you, but why are you worried for otherwise?” Ethan didn’t have an answer because he himself was confused with his reaction and also William’s, William had never done this, acted so possessive of a woman or for that matter any person, and this woman, he had just seen her for the first time, then why?
The day went on without any further trouble for Ethan, but he could see Yumi looking for excuses to talk to him and that surprised him as it was confusing for him to see a person interact with someone just after they had an awkward and uncomfortable episode.
Ethan was lying down on his bed, thinking about today’s events when he thought of partying, though he was tired, he wanted to go out and drink. He changed his clothes, and yes, changed into those shoes which he in his sane mind thought as an unnecessary spending.
He was inside a pub having the time of his life being drunk, not thinking about anything and surprisingly dancing to the music. Dancing in abundance, he didn’t realise who was standing beside him, turning his head he looked at the person and sulked.
Getting inside the house Luke took a long breath while Lizzy looked at him and complained that she wanted to party more. “You won’t ever let me in peace, Luke, will you” she made a statement, Luke just stared at her in a no-nonsense way, ignoring whatever she said. “You aren’t allowed to do that, you made Ethan drink too, knowing he doesn’t like it. Go back you are not needed.”, “Yeah, yeah I’ll leave, I just wanted to party and so I made Ethan drink, big deal.” She laid down on the bed trying to relax.
Ethan was dizzy with all the alcohol in his system when he got flashes, those which he had no idea ever existed in his memory. He was lying down on the bed, curled up into a ball, shivering, while a lady was seen holding a stick in her hand, looking at him in anger while his body turned blue and his breathing hard. That woman was his mother. His father was sitting and reading something as if nothing happened. His mother’s shouting increased so did her hand movement, he couldn’t recall much since he had fainted from the abuse.
Ethan got up startled, holding his head, trying to shake this memory off, thinking it to be a fragment of his drunken mind, he did not want to believe that not only he was mentally abused by his parents he was physically abused as well, so hard that his skin turned blue. He had always believed that even though his mother was angry all the time she never hit him. This belief was shaken. He let out a cry and Luke came in running and looked at the look of horror on Ethan’s face, trying to calm him down. Ethan told him in a painful voice, like that of a 5 year old fragment from his mind and Luke looked at him with a pained look.
After calming himself a bit Ethan got up and went to the bathroom. He washed his face and looked in the mirror. Staring at his reflection he gasped in fear and horror, because the person staring back at him was William Gray.
