Were You There

Were you there?
When I was crying so hard,
I couldn’t breathe.
Were you there?
When they left me,
But you went ahead to aggrieve.

You hurt me,
when it could hurt the hardest.
My eyes were closed.
You threw me into stones,
And kicked me to break the other bones .

You left me,
Like a stranger.
You came back,
Like you’re an angel.
I still think about it.
Makes my eyes sear,
Cause I let you come back.
Though you weren’t there.
