“On 16th December 2016, A girl got raped by 4 boys in a roadways bus and thrown out on the roads of Delhi“
“2019 : A girl identified as doctor in hydrabad was raped and murdered on the streets by a group of truck drivers“
“Corruption is second pandemic during covid medical emergency, says anti-graft agency.“
The above pieces of news are just a tip of an iceberg of how we humans actually are. Ironically, we humans are the only specie on earth who have the gift of the mind, it is human mind only which is capable of making this society, which made humans sensitive enough for each others or have emotions for each other and it is the same human mind which commits heinous crimes against each other.
The word humanity if given a closer view has emerged from the word human only, so the concept actually emerged from us humans, we are the germ to this humongous concept called humanity. But again the question here lies,
“Are we really humans?”
“Have we really justified the concept of humanity?”
The answer to this question is actually pretty much paradoxical. If we state that humanity is long lost in this battle of humans to acquire more power, then it would be wrong as people like Nelson Mandela, Jamshedji tata, Abraham Lincon, Mother Teresa and the list is actually pretty long, humans like them and their acts of endless humanity cannot be negated .
Now, if we look on the not so greener side of the grass, then it can be accurately said that humanity has lost its roots from the humans as incidents like “Bhopal Gas Tragedy“, “child trafficking“, “child labour“, “corruption in the covid times “ all these acts actually reflects how much dirtier are the hands of the humans when it comes to the idea of finishing humanity from the society.
However, as it goes by the belief of Mahatma Gandhi, humanity cannot be erased completely until only one human is living, all of us carry some amount of humanity inside us, until and unless human race is living, humanity is also living.
So now the question is, “ Are we on the last stage of exhausting our humanity?“, “Have we really lessened the number of acts of humanity on the earth?“
Well, the answer to this question is actually not a statistical one but a subjective one. If we go and open our dictionaries, the definition of humanity says that “the quality of being humane“ now this one line definition actually holds a lot of power. This quality of being humane is surprisingly inside each one of us, but it is the human being himself who decides whether to choose being more humane or choose to be more inhumane. And this choice of the human only makes a person justify the idea of humanity in their own eyes.
So actually the view or idea of humanity is pretty much of the personal choice of humans. The question is actually on us whether we choose to be more human each day or less of a human each day.
