Trends   and  education  are  something  which,  when  put  together  never  actually  goes  well.

Because  the  quintessential   idea  of  education  is  “Studying  under  the  light  of  a  lamp post “ ,  “going  to  school  after  crossing  a  river “.   These  are   just  the  tip  of  an  ice berg  of  the  scenarios   we  have  heard  while  we  grew  up.

Well ….its  2023  and  yes, we  are  now  using  trends  in  education  as  well ,  the  core  idea  behind  this  is  to  make  the  idea  of  learning  as  a  fun  activity.  After  pandemic  hitting  the  world ,  our  world  have  literally  got  limited  to   our  gadgets. 

Our  world  has  literally  lived  the  idea  of  being  a  “Global  village “ .   Therefore  ,  in  such  a  scenario, it  is  very  important  that  we  change  our  perspective  towards  education  or  learning  and  try  to  analyse  it  with  some  different  angle.

I  have  thus  shared  my  two  perspectives  from  which  I see  these  Educational  Trends.    

Metaverse   In   Education  Metaverse   it  seems   the  new  fish  in  the  sea  of  education.  It  has  conquered  the  idea  of   the  mainstream  “Classroom  learning “ and  has  instead  coined  the  idea  of  an  “ UNIVERSE “ this  idea  is  actually  brought   to  life  by  Kevin Chu  ,  director  of   ViewSonic ,  he  has  actually  fostered  a  virtual  environment  for  his  students  to  make  learning  a  healthy  and a  fun  activity  and  reduce  barriers  all  at  the  same  time.    

ViewSonic  seems  to  cater  to  these  problems  by  their  fostering  of  the Virtual  Environment  

▪︎Student   engagement  through  Avatar Feature  : The   virtual  environment  will  render  an  Avatar  to  the  students  in  the  virtual  classroom. 

This   feature  would  attract  more  students  and  keep  them  engaged  in  the  learning  process.

Lecture  Mode  to  help  teachers  take  control.This   feature  is  loved  by  teachers   as  this  helps  them  to  put  the  mics  of  their  student  off  and  make   them  seated.  This  feature  helps  them  with  grabbing  the  attention  of  the  students.

Making  of  Avatars – a  personalised  experience Students  get  to  have  a  personalised  experience  by  getting  to  make  their  own  avatars.   They  would  be  provided  with  tools  and  softwares  which  would  help  them  make  an  avatar  which  truly  represents  their  own  self. Breaking  down  the  barriers The  virtual  classroom  is  actually  a  platform  which  joins  all  the  students  all  across  the  globe  together  . 

It  renders  a  community  feeling  of  putting  all  of  the  students  in  one  UNIVERSE .   This   actually  helps  the  learners  to  come  and  explore  more  the  ocean  of  learning.Diversity  of  the  UNIVERSE the  virtual  UNIVERSE   can  be  actually  built  on  any  platform.  Any   hardware  is  good  enough  to  be  used  to  create  the  virtual  UNIVERSE .  This  accessibility  feature  is  actually  helpful  to  take  the  virtual  classrooms  to  next  level.   

▪︎New   Education  Trends  :  Employers  Version People   who  are  hiring  nowadays  are  actually   looking  beyond  the  conventional  trainings  of  education.   They   are  looking  for  more  than  just  knowledge. Skill  oriented  learning  :Employers   are  looking  for  talented  people  who  are  enhanced  with  skills  as  well as  some  learning.  A  blend  of  both  is  in  great  demand  in  2023.

▪︎Ditch  the  conventional  classroom : Armed   with  skills  ,  institutes  are  ditching  the  quintessential   classroom  learning  and  are  looking  for  creating  more  courses  which  makes  you  learn  as  you  work.  As  in  this  fast  pacing  generation ,  people  have  lost  the  patience  of  “  just  learning “ .  we  want  to  employ  as  we  learn  more.“  A  single  piece  of  paper ,  cannot  deceide  my  future “

In  this  fast  running  world ,  we  are  taking  longer  strides  and  shorter  degrees.  Yess ,  the  employers  are  now  taking  away  their  obsession  with  branded  college  degrees  and  are  now  looking  for  some  quick  3  month  or  6  month  training  programme  stacked  with  skills    as   something  more  valuable  than   a  2  year  long  course  spent   only  earning   one  degree.

▪︎Skill   is  the  king : Yes ,   nowadays  ,  if  your  skilled ,  then  you  are  a  survivor ,  otherwise  ,  your  left  with  just  one  option  and  that  is  Upskilling   yourself.  Skills   are  the  new  currency  of  this  21st  century  which  would  help  you  trade  your  favouraite  dream  to  you.          

  Conclusion 

Although   trends   are  a  new   amalgamation  to  the  ocean   of  Education,  but  this  new   element  will  definetly  bring  new  colours  to  the  mundane  black  and  white  ocean  of  education from  Metaverse  to  Upskilling ,  trends  have  already  started  to  cast  its  magic  it  seems.
